DPM 2007 Beta 1 has substantially improved features across the board, but some of the SQL Server features are sure to be particularly attractive to many users. SQL SERVER WATCH

PRODUCT WATCH

Quickly Determine the Status of Your Databases
CA announced CA Insight Database Performance Monitor (DPM) for Distributed Databases, a performance analysis and diagnostic tool for its Database Management solution. Using a single window, CA Insight DPM for Distributed Databases lets you monitor real-time and historical performance metrics for all distributed databases across your enterprise. The status of each database is represented as a single, color-coded and numeric indicator, letting you quickly see what databases require immediate attention. The software also lets you view specific database server conditions, such as locking, inadequate free space, I/O bottlenecks, high CPU utilization, and inadequate memory. For more information, contact CA at 631-342-6000 or 888-423-1000 or http://www.ca.com.

Protect the Sensitive Information That Resides on Your Databases
Guardium released Guardium DBLP, a solution that automatically locates and classifies sensitive information in databases, whether you use SQL Server, IBM DB2, Oracle, IBM Informix, Sybase IQ, or Sybase ASE. Guardium then prevents unauthorized activity to your data based on real-time policies and continuous comparison to normal activity. For example, Guardium monitors traffic both to and from database servers. So, if a database query returned thousands of credit card numbers, Guardium DBLP would immediately identify it. For more information, contact Guardium at 781-487-9400 or 877-487-9400 or http://www.guardium.com.
