To bring its next-generation OLAP client software products to market and expand research, development, marketing, and sales initiatives, OLAP@Work Inc. secured $1 million in seed funding from Celtic House International, a venture capital fund that provides seed equity to start-up information technology companies in Europe and North America. "Microsoft's entry into the OLAP database market with SQL Server 7.0 has presented OLAP@Work with an opportunity to quickly establish \[itself\] as the leading provider of embedded analysis tools based on this . new technology," says Andrew Waitman, Celtic House general partner. In June 1999, OLAP@Work launched OLAP@Work for Excel version 1.2, which transforms Microsoft Excel into an OLAP analysis tool that utilizes users' existing spreadsheet knowledge and speeds OLAP adoption and deployment times.
