Today Microsoft is making the Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 RC available for download. The announcement was made today at Microsoft's Build 2014 developer conference in San Francisco. Please note that this is a 'go-live' release, meaning that it can be used in production environments.
In Update 2, Microsoft introduced universal projects, which lets developers create apps that can be optimized and targeted to several different Windows devices. According to Microsoft, universal projects lets developers leverage approximately 90 percent of the same code to create a seamless experience for smartphones, tablets, and PCs.
I've covered progress on Update 2 extensively in my article, "Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 CTP Now Available for Download." Without a doubt, this is a large update, where Microsoft has been busy at work to include new features, such as work-item tagging, backlog management, and new charting functionalities.
