BMC Software to Acquire Sylvain Faust

BMC Software, maker of e-business systems management software, will acquire Sylvain Faust in a deal that is expected to become final later this month. BMC will integrate Sylvain Faust’s database solutions, which support SQL Server, into BMC’s Distributed Data Management business unit. Sylvain Faust’s products include SQL-Programmer, which provides a complete development environment for T-SQL, PL/SQL, and Sybase programmers. SQL-Programmer has an extensive tool set, which lets programmers quickly find and fix bugs and improve the quality of their applications. “This acquisition fits within our DataOne solution strategy of addressing the entire database management lifecycle from development tools to backup and recovery,” said Joyce Durst, vice president of BMC’s Distributed Data Management business unit.
