Portman Building Society selected Comshare’s enterprise management planning and control (MPC) solution on Microsoft SQL Server to unify its standalone planning, budgeting, reporting, and analysis processes within a single enterprise MPC system. Consolidated Software, Comshare’s UK mid-range market distributor, won the contract. “Comshare’s unified enterprise MPC solution puts all the information about plans, budgets, actuals, and forecasts into one database for more reliable and complete management reporting and analysis,” says Andy Russell, Portman Building Society’s group financial controller. “Comshare eliminates the errors of spreadsheets, enables everyone to share the same information, and saves time because the process is much slicker.” A top-five UK building society, Portman Building Society offers a range of savings, mortgage, and insurance products. The society employs more than 1000 people and serves more than 1 million members through 115 branch offices based primarily in southern England. Initially, the solution will be rolled out to 35 finance managers. After the application is implemented and more information is in the system, Portman will extend the application’s use to all management levels.
