Research Firm Cites Information Builders’ Record Growth

International Data Corporation (IDC) recently cited Information Builders, particularly its WebFOCUS software, for its strong growth in the end-user query/reporting software market. According to the report, the worldwide market for end-user query and reporting software grew 27.8 percent in 1999 to $1.3 billion, while Information Builders saw a 127.8 percent growth in 1999 revenue for WebFOCUS. WebFOCUS version 4.3 is fully integrated and bundled with SQL Server 7.0 OLAP Services. “Business Intelligence in the age of e-business is reaching more users, fueling demand for end-user query/reporting software,” said Henry Morris, IDC vice president of data warehousing and knowledge management. “The increasing demand for Information Builders’ WebFOCUS software is evidence of this trend.” IDC predicts that the query and reporting market will grow to $6.9 billion by 2004 and attributes the growth to an increased number of end users, increased demand for wireless application protocol-enabled query and reporting tools, and mergers and acquisitions. IDC provides worldwide IT industry analysis, market data, insights, and strategic/tactical guidance to IT builders, providers, and users through more than 500 analysts in 42 countries.
