In this podcast, David DeWitt discusses how his career in database research led to becoming a Microsoft Technical Fellow in the Data and Storage group. He explains that he's not part of the Microsoft Research group, rather he's in the product team doing research directly related to the future of SQL Server. Some of that research is being conducted at the Jim Gray Systems Lab at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

In our conversation DeWitt describes his connection with the Madison project (one can conjecture without too much difficulty where that code name came from) and the topic he'll explore in his keynote at PASS--parallel computing.
