LiteSpeed’s SmartDiff Technology Reduces Backup Sizes and Times

Quest Software has announced that its backup and recovery product, LiteSpeed for SQL Server, now includes SmartDiff backup technology. SmartDiff reduces your database backup storage sizes, therefore reducing the time it takes to perform backups. According to Quest Software, "With SmartDiff, LiteSpeed for SQL Server‘s compression ratio jumps from 20:1 up to 40:1, providing powerful SQL backup compression that is comparable to storing more than a terabyte of data on a single USB thumb drive."

LiteSpeed for SQL Server offers nine levels of encryption to secure your backups; backup mirroring so that you can write one backup to multiple locations at one time; and double-click restore, which lets you create database backup files that you can restore just by double-clicking them. This product’s UI gives you an enterprise-wide view your backup and recovery environment, and you have the option to script backup and recovery commands using T-SQL or a command-line executable. According to Quest Software, LiteSpeed for SQL Server with SmartDiff offers a high-level of recovery, letting you lets you recover tables, rows, and individual database objects.

LiteSpeed for SQL Server supports SQL Server 2008, 2005, 2000 SP4, and SQL Server 7.0 SP4, as well as Windows Server 2008 and 2003, Windows 2000 SP4, Windows Vista, and Windows XP.
