In a standard Microsoft environment SA is required to freely use live migration to move VM's between hosts. Without SA you are limited to one move every 90 days.

Its also important to realize that the cloud doesn't have to be an either or choice. You can augment your on-premise systems with cloud-based backup or DR.

Log shipping can also be implemented in the Standard edition. You don't need the more expensive Enterprise edition.

Interesting tool. Standard edition is way more affordable but you have to be able to do without the HA features in the Enterprise edition.
